(MENAFN) US largest construction and engineering firm Bechtel has won a management contract to oversee the design and build of a USD5.5 billion petrochemicals complex at Ras Laffan in Qatar, the Construction Week reported.
Under the contract, Bechtel will provide project management services over the course of the project starting with the front-end engineering design phase.
The major project, to be operational in 2018, will comprise of an ethylene cracker with the feedstock being provided from natural gas projects in the north of the country.
Bechtel has won a contract in April to build the Al Seejal complex, which is a partnership between Qatar Petroleum (QP) and Qatar Petrchomencial Co (QAPCO).
