(MENAFN) Hamad Al-Bishri, deputy CEO and chief program officer, Qatar Rail, said that Qatar Rail has signed a USD32 billion deal to continue the Doha Metro Project, according to Arab News.
Al-Bishri said: “Today, we are proud to announce that we have officially begun work for the setup of the metro stations in 20 out of 25 locations, and started with the preliminary drilling works for the metro tunnels ” reaching close to 5 meters in depth in some locations ” in key areas, in hopes that Phase 1 of the Doha Metro will be completed in 2019.”
The meeting was attended by Jassim Seif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, Qatar”s Minister of Transport, and Abdul Rahim Naqi, secretary general, Federation of GCC Chambers.
