(MENAFN) French Total’s CEO Christophe de Margerie confirmed that Qatar increased its shareholding in the energy giant to three percent, Bloomberg reported.
Total and Qatar are considering investments in joint projects in West Africa, de Margerie added.
Qatar, the world’s largest exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG), is now among Total’s top five shareholders, after the company’s employees, and Belgian investor Albert Frere.
In addition to its investment in Total, Qatar has other valuable investments in French assets including media-to-aerospace conglomerate Lagerdere, infrastructure firm Vinci, and environmental services group Veolia.
