Qatargas 3, Japan’s Kepco ink long-term LNG deal

27 Sep 2012

(MENAFN) Qatargas Operating Company Ltd (Qatargas) stated that it inked a sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with Japan’s Kansai Electric Power Company Incorporated (Kepco), reported The Peninsula.

The world’s largest LNG supplier said that the new long term liquefied natural gas (LNG) agreement is the first long-term bilateral deal between the two firms.

According to the deal, Qatargas 3 will provide Kepco, the second largest electricity firm in Japan, with 0.5 million tons per annum (MTA) of LNG for a period of 15 years, starting next year.

It is worth noting that Kepco is one of the original 8 Japanese buyers that inked a multi-party contract with Qatargas 1 back in 1994.
