(MENAFN) Qatar’s food inflation reached 1.4 percent in June, marking a decrease from 3.8 percent recorded in August and driven by the global decline in food prices, Gulf Times reported.
According to statistics, food inflation has tremendously helped in easing up the country’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) over recent months.
Nonetheless, a report issued by QNB stated that the global food prices are expected to reach its lowest levels this year, dragged by the improving global economic growth and recovering oil prices.
“If the historical relationship between domestic and international prices persists, then we forecast that domestic food prices should rise only slightly in 2015 (0.2 percent) before picking up in 2016 (2.1 percent),” the report said.
