(MENAFN) Gulf Drilling International’s Ltd (GDI) CEO, Ibrahim J Al Othman, stated that the company inked a new 2-year agreement with Occidental Petroleum of Qatar Ltd. (Oxy Qatar) to provide offshore drilling rig services, reported The Peninsula.
Al Othman said that the contract is the third 2-year contract in a row for the Al Wajba (Gulf-3) Drilling Rig that the firm has secured exclusively with Oxy Qatar since 2008.
The rig has surpassed the Key Performance Indices (KPI’s) that Oxy Qatar has set; moreover, it has helped promote the strong relationship between the two firms.
It is worth noting that the Al Wajba (Gulf-3) rig has been a main contributor to Oxy’s MFP fast track field development program and would be installed under the new agreement in support of their Idd El Shargi development.
