Qatar’s New Port to start operations in 2016

(MENAFN) The first phase of the New Port Project, which is set to cost USD7.4 billion, is set to be operational by the end of 2016, The Peninsula Qatar reported.

The new port’s initial capacity is expected to accommodate two million containers, and will eventually be increased, once the project is fully complete by 2020, to six million containers.

The full port project is set to be situated on a 26-square-kilometre area, subdivided into different such as the economic zone, the commercial port and the naval base.
