(MENAFN) A global team of chemicals experts said that Qatar’s petrochemical expansion plans are the largest in the region for the next 5 to 10 years, The Peninsula Qatar reported.
The Head of Oil and Gas for KPMG in the Middle East said that Qatar and the Middle East must veer off from just petrochemical production into more “specialty downstream chemical areas where increased margins can be achieved.”
He added that Qatar has already taken steps towards that with plans to set up some SMEs based on byproducts of existing petrochemical plants, and also by marketing petrochemicals through a separate entity, Muntajat’, to improve prices in the market.
