04 Jul 2012

(MENAFN) Qatari Prime Minister, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber al-Thani, may acquire the most expensive penthouse apartment in New York in a USD100 million deal, The New York Post reported.

The luxury apartment consists of a grand salon, at least 5 bedrooms, 4 fireplaces, floor-to-ceiling windows and a large mezzanine.

The newspaper said that the 2-storey pad is located at the top of the under-construction One57 condominium close to Carnegie Hall, on the 89th and 90th floors.

Although a spokesperson of Extell Development, the developer of the One57 building, denied reports about the deal, nevertheless, reports said that the rebuff could be a move to protect the Sheikh’s privacy.

It is worth noting that other reports also said that Sheikh Hamad has been in talks to acquire 4 other full-floor apartments in the same building for a total of USD250 million.
