(MENAFN) Qatar’s Rasgas’ Managing Director, Hamad Rashid Al-Mohannadi, said that the company renewed its deal with France’s EDF to supply the French company with 3.4 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year, reported Arab News.
Al-Mohannadi added that the exported LNG quantities would be delivered to markets in northwest Europe.
He also said that Qatar’s LNG exports grew notably as a result of the tsunami that hit Japan in March and crippled operations at the country’s Fukushima nuclear power plant.
It is worth noting that Qatar is the main exporter of LNG in the world, its yearly output capacity is 77 million tons.
