Qatar’s utility bill to hit USD20b in coming decade

(MENAFN) Beltone Financial issued a report forecasting expenditures of USD20 billion in Qatar on generation and water desalination over the course of the coming decade, reported Qatar’s Gulf Times.

Beltone Financial cited the 100% decade-on-decade hike in the country’s utilities bill to the preparations for the FIFA 2022 World Cup that would be hosted in the country. The event entails huge infrastructure investments including sectors such as transportation, roads, hotels and airports among others.

Beltone Financial also noted that even though the country’s consumption of electricity would grow by ten percent year-on-year for the coming ten years.

It is worth mentioning that the world’s number one LNG exporter has an electricity surplus of over 2,500MW at the current time.
