Remittances by Jordanians down by 5.2% in 2011: CB

(MENAFN) The Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) said that in 2011, money transfers by Jordanians working abroad fell by 5.2 percent from a year earlier to USD3.44 billion, reported The Jordan Times.

The bank added that remittances made by Jordanians in 2010 were USD3.62 billion.

On the other hand, the bank said that overall deposits at local banks reached USD34.12 billion, with a rise of USD2.62 billion from a year earlier.

It is worth noting that the volume of credit facilities extended by Jordan’s local banks rose 9.7 percent over 2010 to USD22.26 billion.
