17 Aug 2012

(MENAFN) French automaker Renault reported a 32 percent increase in half-yearly sales to around 6,000 vehicles in the GCC region, Arabian Business reported.

The company said the increase was significantly higher than the 20 percent growth of the overall market.

Sales in the oil-rich region was lead by three Renault models, Logan, Fluence and Safrane, which also were ranked among the top 15 best-selling European models in the region.

Renault is now ranked 17th among automotive brands in the GCC, a positive jump by two ranks compared to the same period in 2011, the company added in a statement.

Sales in Saudi Arabia grew by 29 percent in the period, and in the UAE by 49 percent, while in Oman, Renault boasted three models in the top five of best selling European cars.

Sales in Qatar increased by 36 percent, and in Bahrain by 49 percent, while growth in Kuwait more than doubled with a 138 percent increase in the January-June period.
