(MENAFN) Dubai International Airport stated that during the current quarter, upgrade work on the facility’s Terminal 1 will start, reported Arabian Business.
It added that renovation work will comprise the replacement of all check-in desks, the upgrade of baggage systems and the rejuvenation of all public areas.
Furthermore, the airport will add a new baggage screening system that will cut the time it takes for passengers to get to their departure gates.
Works will also include expanding the terminal’s arrivals hall, with new food and retail outlets; moreover, the arrivals area forecourt will be reorganized to enhance traffic flow.
It is worth noting that once completed, Terminal 1 will be connected via a new-elevated train to Concourse D, which is scheduled to finish in 2015.
