Royal Jordanian sees 26% increase in passengers in Q1

(MENAFN) Royal Jordanian repoted 26 percent increase in passengers to more than 774,000 during the first quarter of 2012, compared to 615,000 passengers carried a year earlier, Arabian Business reported.

CEO Hussein Dabbas said that the increase in the number of passengers increased the seat factor by 10 percent to 71 percent, indicating that the positive performance indicators came during the weakest part of the year in terms of demand for travel.

The airline also reported six percent increase in flight frequencies, and five percent increase in the flying hours during the period.

Earlier this month, Royal Jordanian, said it was open for merger option, as it is struggling with high fuel prices, competition from local rivals and a sluggish economy squeezed earnings.
