SABIC Sinopec’s JV sets up polycarbonate complex in China

05 Apr 2012

(MENAFN) SABIC’s chairman, Prince Saud bin Thunayan Al-Saud, said that the Sinopec SABIC Tianjin Petrochemical Company (SSTPC) started the establishment of a polycarbonate production complex in China’s Tianjin, reported Arab News.

Prince Saud added that the new complex, forecasted to start operations in 2015, would have an annual production capacity of 260 kilo tons, and would be able to produce 4 major classes of polycarbonate, such as the mixed grade, extrusion grade, optical grade, and molding grade polycarbonate.

The prince also said that the complex would use the world’s leading non-phosgene polycarbonate manufacturing technology, which abides by China’s national energy saving and carbon emission policy.

It is worth noting that SSTPC was founded in October 2009, as a joint venture between SINOPEC and SABIC, with each holding 50 percent stake.
