(MENAFN) The economy of Saudi Arabia is set to obtain USD3.19 billion in revenue from this year’s Umrah season, driven by an increased number of pilgrims, The Saudi Gazette reported.

The increase in numbers is attributed to the multiple means that the Kingdom has employed to facilitate Umrah for all people. The increase in the economic status of Muslims and the easy going direct flights towards Mecca also played a huge role in the increase.

“According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the highest number of pilgrims reached 5.8 million. With the low rate of overstayers this year, more and more pilgrims were able to come and the Grand Mosque,” an official said.
