(MENAFN) The Saudi Railways Organisation (SRO) said that the Haramain railway project linking the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah will not finish until 2016, Arabian Business reported.
SRO had earlier announced that the project will be completed by the end of 2015.
Speaking to the Saudi Gazette, the president said: “Only 50 percent of the project has been completed so far.”
The railway line will connect the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah through Jeddah at a cost of around USD14 billion.
