Saudi IDEA inks solar contract with Germany’s Centrotherm

(MENAFN) Saudi IDEA Polysilicon Co. said that it inked a deal with Germany’s Centrotherm Photovoltaics, the world’s second largest maker of solar equipment, to construct a polysilicon plant in Saudi, reported Arab News.

The company added that Centrotherm would provide know-how and engineering for the plant, which annual production capacity could reach 10,000 tons of polysilicon.

It also said that the plant, which would be located in the city of Yanbu, would be forecasted to cost over USD1.1 billion.

It is worth noting that IDEA Polysilicon is a new firm that was established by investors in the Gulf to produce the key solar power panel making material.
