Saudi imports 80 percent food from foreign countriies

(MENAFN) Saudi Arabia’s imports of food from foreign countries reached as much as 80 percent of total food requirements, while only 20 percent of food is produced locally, according to Arab News.

The GCC countries import 90 percent of food products on average from other countries.

Qatar has ranked first as the biggest importer of food from foreign countries at 97 percent, while Bahrain ranked second at 92 percent, followed by Kuwait at 91 percent.

Experts said political developments in Ukraine have a negative impact on the prices of agro commodities.
