Saudi investors in talks to buy into a Spanish football club

(MENAFN) Maher Bondakji, chairman of the board of directors of Al-Marabie said that he is in talks to buy 25 percent to 45 percent of a Spanish football club, Arab News reported.

Bondakji, a former candidate for the presidency of the Itihad Saudi football team, along with Saudi businessmen and, are negotiations to buy a Spanish football club to boost an increased Saudi presence in the sports investment field.

Bondakji said that the Saudi businessmen may consider buying into more European football clubs if this worked according to plan for the next couple of years.

Bondakji, who declined to disclose the name of the club, expected to finalize the transaction in the next two months.
