03 Aug 2012

(MENAFN) Saudi Maaden and Alcoa Inc have awarded a USD337 million aluminum plant contract for US Fluor Corp, the engineering and construction firm, reported Arabian Business.

The head of Fluor’s Mining & Metals business, Rick Koumouris, said that the firm will be in charge of providing engineering, procurement and construction management services for an automotive sheet facility in Saudi Ras Al-Khair.

Koumouris added that the company will also design, set up and commission the factory, which once completed, will produce lightweight aluminum to be used in car manufacturing.

It is worth noting that the new facility, whose products consist of automotive heat-treated and non-heat-treated sheet, building and construction sheet and foil stock sheet, is part of the Maaden-Alcoa aluminum complex that is under development at the current time in Saudi.
