Saudi mobile subscriptions reach 56.1m by September

(MENAFN) Saudi Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) reported 200 percent increase in mobile users in the Saudi Arabia, reaching 56.1 million in the first 9 months, with prepaid cell phone subscribers accounting for 87 percent of the total, Arab News reported.

CITC added that land phones subscribers reached 4.52 million, including 3.34 million residential lines which accounted for 73 percent of the total.

The landline growth rate compared to population was just 16 percent, despite a 67 percent rise in homes.

The report also said that internet users rose 46 percent to around 13 million during the nine months to September.

Broadband services grew by 40.5 percent, with 2.13 million users connected through a landline network and 11.5 million subscribers through mobile phones.
