(MENAFN) Etihad Airways’ President and Cheif Executive Officer, James Hogan, stated that the airline plans on adding a new daily flight between Abu Dhabi and Kuala Lumpur starting mid July, reported Arabian Business.
Hogan also said that the carrier has witnessed growing demand for passenger air travel and cargo between the Malaysian capital and the Emirati one. He noted that over 1 million passengers have travelled with Etihad Airways since 2007 when it started flying to Kuala Lumpur.
The CEO added that the addition of the second daily flight, which will be oprated by two Airbus A330-200 aircraft, will increase the capacity by around 23 percent by adding 1400 new seats a week to the route.
It is worth noting that trade between the UAE and Malaysia climbed by near 20 percent between 2011 and 2012, making it one of the Gulf region’s most important partners.
