Share of Bahrain’s IT, communications grows 2.75 percent in GDP

(MENAFN) Bahrain’s IT and telecommunications sector saw a significant rise in share to the gross domestic product (GDP) to reach 2.75 percent while its share to non-oil GDP boosted by 7.0 percent in 2012, according to Gulf Daily News.

Fixed telephone lines in Bahrain reached more than 4.8 million. By the end of 2012, residential lines accounted 70 percent of the total.

The number of subscribers to mobile phone services registered an 18.3 percent growth by the end of 2012, or 53 million subscribers.
