(MENAFN) The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) stated that during the January-March period, the emirate’s hotels posted an 8-percent increase in the number of guests from a year before to 503,985, reported Gulf News.
The SCTDA added that of the total, Europeans made up 29 percent, followed by GCC visitors, who accounted for 34 percent, while Asians represented 14 percent.
It said that room nights climbed by 14 percent, reaching 612,574 from 539,393 in 2012’s same period.
Meanwhile, hotel occupancy reached 80 percent, up by 2 percentage points from a year earlier.
