(MENAFN) The Sharjah Department of Seaports and Customs announced it has signed a contract with the Hamriyah Free Zone Authority and Sharjah Airport International Free Zone as well as Shipyards Group in HFZA for the purchase of new vessels for Sharjah Seaports, Arab News reported.
The department said that this deal was signed in the aim of helping in the improvement of the economic development process in Sharjah in general and Sharjah Seaports in particular.
Under the deal, Sharjah Seaports and Customs will buy one Damen ASD Tug 2411 of 5632 bhp with 67 Bollard Pull and one Damen Stan Pilot Boat of 33 knots speed with 1400 bhp from Damen Shipyards Sharjah FZE, with the vessels expected to be built in Sharjah and delivered by June 2015.
“This is the first time we will be taking delivery of vessels built in Hamriyah Free Zone, Sharjah, by Damen Shipyards Group. We are once again delighted to join hands with Damen and it still remains our first choice as they are able to meet all of our requirements,” The Chairman of the Department of Seaports & Customs said.
