(MENAFN) Sharjah’s business activity registered an increase in the January-June period of 2015 as the number of new licenses issued by the Sharjah Economic Development Department (Sedd) rose to 3,183.
The figure indicated an increase of 13.6 percent from 2,802 a year ago. In all, 33,192 licenses were issued and renewed by the department in the first half as compared to 31,338 on-year, up by 4 percent.
According to official data announced by Sedd, the highest number of licenses was issued in March 2015, registering 6,238 licenses as against 5,416 in the same month last year, an increase of 15 percent.
Commercial licenses were the most active segment totaling 54 percent, followed by occupational licenses at 32 percent, industrial at three per cent and domestic licenses at 1 percent.
