(MENAFN) Oman’s Sohar Industrial Estate (SIE) plans to expand further as it began its search for a contract firm to handle the development of the seventh phase of the expansion, Times on Oman reported.
The seventh phase will add an area of around 8 million square meters. The contracting firm who is to win the deal will build infrastructure utilities and facilities for the units to be built on the added area.
Sohar’s expansion is a part of a chain of expansions of similar industrial estates. The Public Authority for Industrial Estates (PEIE) said that many expansion projects in different sites are either being planned or already underway .
PEIE is in charge of developing 89 million square meters in Oman providing over 13,400 job opportunities for citizens.
