(MENAFN) The Swedish government said that it would prevent any state authorities from helping Saudi to establish a developed weapons plant, reported Arabian Business.
The government’s statement followed radio reports that the defense agency FOI had held talks with Saudi to help the Arab country build a plant that would make anti-tank missiles.
On the other hand, weapons sales to Saudi have already caused criticism; however, the recent report sparked a protest in Sweden which considers itself as a supporter of human rights.
It is worth noting that the Swedish governing parties intend to take necessary steps if any Swedish authorities were set to carry out a weapons factory in Saudi.
