(MENAFN) Bahrain’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority reported 1.7 mullion mobile phone subscribers last year, with a penetration rate of 133 percent, Arabian Business reported.
The regulator said also that that since the introduction of number portability in mid July, about 22,000 numbers have been ported.
The report showed that internet subscribers increased 42 percent to almost 290,000 from a year earlier.
Broadband penetration in Bahrain reached 23 percent last year representing a total of 126,000 mobile broadband subscribers, according to the report.
Fixed lines penetration in the Gulf state was 19 percent totaling about 242,000 in last year, the report added.
