Total bond issuance in GCC hits USD167.54bn

(MENAFN) According to Kuwait Financial Center “Markaz”, this issued that GCC Bonds & Sukuk Market Survey, has emphasized the trends pertaining to bonds and Sukuk issuances in the GCC region amid 2016.

Moreover, the aggregate primary issuance of bonds and Sukuk by GCC entities, involving Central Banks Local Issuances, GCC Sovereign and Corporate Issuances reached USD167.54bn.

In addition, an increase in activities can be attributable to sovereign issues by GCC governments as a response to plug the budget deficits due to low oil prices.

Through last year, a total of USD65.104bn was raised by the GCC central banks, namely by the Central Bank of Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman.
