(MENAFN) The trade deficit in Tunisia slightly dropped from 8.59mn MTD in 2015 to 8.25mn MTD in the Jan-August period of this year, with small upturn in exports by 1.2pct.
Furthermore, the increase in exports in the cited period was attributed to improved exports of phosphate and its derivatives which reached 79.5 percent.
However, exports of agricultural and food products declined by 34 percent, following the drop in olive oil revenue and falling energy exports.
On the other hand, imports of raw materials, phosphate, semi-manufactured goods and consumer products grew by 26.4 percent, 9pct and 7.3pct respectively.
