(MENAFN) Tunisia has awarded a USD150 million contract to Royal Dutch Shell for oil exploration in the North African country, Reuters reported.
The company will undergo drilling operations in areas of El Jem, Kairouan, Sousse and Sfax, Minister of Industry Lamine Chakari said.
Tunisia seeks to attract investments to the energy sector, as it seeks to cut dependence on oil imports.
Earlier, Shell said it won a US approval to Prepare for Arctic drilling‎ in the Chukchi Sea off Alaska.
