(MENAFN) Tunisia’s Ministry of Industry said that in 2012, the country might explore 24 new oil sites, reported Gulf News.

The ministry added that in the year, Tunisia plans to import around 300,000 tons of liquid petroleum gas, 1 million tons of diesel and 300,000 tons of fuel to meet domestic needs.

It also said that the country would invest USD1.72 billion in hydrocarbons production, up from USD926 million in 2011.

It is worth noting that in 2011, Tunisia’s hydrocarbons output fell 9 percent from a year earlier.
