(MENAFN) UAE’s Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Center said that in 2011, the country’s air traffic movements rose 7.6 percent, driven by the prosperity of business and tourism in the country, reported Emirates 24/7.
The center added that last month, the number of air traffic movements reached 61,197, with average daily movements of 1,974, on the other hand, October was the month that recorded the highest number of air traffic movements in 2011, with a total of 61,705.
It also said that January witnessed the highest percentage in terms of increase in air traffic, with a rise by 10.3 percent, showing an average of 1,846 air traffic movements a day, compared with an average of 1,673 in 2010’s same month.
It is worth noting that in December, Dubai International Airport ranked first with a total of 28,223 air traffic movements, followed by over flights with 13,233 movements, and Abu Dhabi airport with 8,686 movements.
