(MENAFN) Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (Dewa) Managing Director and CEO, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, said that the company’s installed capacity last year grew 8,718 Megawatts (MW), from 7,361 MW in 2010, reported Emirates 24/7.
Al Tayer added that the increase goes in line with the emirate’s plans to promote Dubai’s pioneering position as an international center for finance, business and tourism, and to develop its infrastructure in all fields.
He also said that in 2011, desalinated water output capacity rose to 400 million gallons per day (MIGD), compared with 330 MIGD recorded a year earlier.
It is worth noting that Dewa’s power output in 2011 went up 2.6 percent from 2010’s 33,742 Gigawatts per hour (GWh), to 34,606 (GWh).
