(MENAFN) UAE’s No.2 telecoms operator Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du) posted a 57 percent increase in quarterly profits, Reuters reported.
The company said it made USD88.6 million net profit during the second quarter, up from USD56.4 million a year earlier.
The company also reported a 12.9 percent increase in quarterly revenue to USD666.84 million during the quarter from a year earlier.
du’s mobile subscriber base expanded by 20 percent in the second quarter to 5.73 million from a year earlier. Revenue from mobile subscribers edged USD517.15 million.
du’s subscribers in fixed phone, broadband and television units grew by 13.2 percent and 19 percent respectively.
In April, du expressed its interest in bidding for a virtual operator license in Saudi Arabia.
