(MENAFN) Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) CEO, Mohammad Ibrahim Al Hammadi, stated that the company has started building the UAE’s second nuclear reactor, reported Arabian Business.
Al Hammadi added that in July 2012, the company obtained a construction license from the Federal Authority of Nuclear Regulation (FANR) and a No Objection Certificate from the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi to set up the first 2 plants.

He said that the first reactor will begin operations in 2017, while the second one will launch operations in 2018, with all 4 projected to be operational by the end of the decade.
