(MENAFN) Etihad Airways and airberlin said that they began selling tickets for their joint codeshare flights, reported Gulf News.
Etihad Airways added that under the codeshare agreement, airberlin would operate 4 flights per week between Berlin and Abu Dhabi starting January 15, using an Airbus A330-200 aircraft, whereas more codeshare destinations would be announced in next weeks.
The Abu Dhabi-based firm also said that it would place its EY code on these flights, providing European travelers with immediate access to 29 weekly flights to and through Abu Dhabi from 4 German hubs, including Berlin, Dsseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich.
It is worth noting that in December of 2011, Etihad Airways increased its stake in airberlin to 29.21 percent, to become the German company’s largest single shareholder.
