(MENAFN) UAE’s telecomunnications giant Etisalat Group stated that it was awarded a licence to operate in the West African state of Benin, reported Arabian Business.
The UAE state-backed company also said that its Benin business, Etisalat Benin, has obtained a universal service license (USL) which allows it to rovide third and fourth generation (3G and 4G) and any other mobile telecom technology that becomes available in the West African country for the next 20 years.
The company explained that it saw Benin as a country with lots of growth potential. The firm added that it aims at providing citizens, businesses and communities with mobile services technologies which are the means for economic growth and success.
It is worth noting that Etisalalt, which is 60 percent owned by the UAE government, already has operations in African Zanzibar, Sudan, Gabon, Togo, Nigeria and Egypt. It operates in 15 countries in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
