(MENAFN) According to a report published by the Journal of Commerce (JOC), Abu Dhabi’s Khalifa Port has ranked fifth in term of port productivity in the Europe and in the Middle East region, after two years of beginning operations in the port, Khaleej Times reported.
Khalifa Port registered a productivity rate of about 34 gross moves per hour (gmph), an increase by 36 percent compared to September 2012, when the port commenced operations and had a rate of 25 gmph.
Khalifa Port also attracted three additional major shipping lines last year, thus bringing the total of its shipping lines to reach 20, which are currently being currently served at Abu Dhabi’s flagship port.
In addition to this progress, the new Kizad Logistics Park’s (KLP) first phase, which covers an area of more than 45.000 square meter, has been completed, with 41 warehouses which will be leased to national and international investors who are in the process of moving into their units.
“We are very proud of what we have accomplished within such a short time frame. This not only confirms our financial investments and hard work but Khalifa Port’s massive potential in terms of productivity and service offerings for the years to come,” CEO, Abu Dhabi Port Company said.
