UAE’s Nuclear Plant to power 25pct of elect by 2020

(MENAFN) The UAE’s Barakah Nuclear Power Plant project now under building is projected to offer up to 25 percent of the nation’s elect needs and will save 12mn tons in carbon emissions yearly.

Furthermore, the project stated in 2012 at a price tag of USD24.2bn, was designed for a lifespan of more than 60 years.

The first of the four reactors is 94 percent finish, while the rest three units are 78 percent complete, while each reactor generate more than 1.400MW.

Last year, the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corp. inked a new operating support service deal with Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power, whose tech was chosen to power the Barkah plant.
