(MENAFN) Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) announced that it has found two columns of oil in Darwin North Sea field, reported Arabian Business.
TAQA’s UK oil and gas unit’s managing director, Leo Koot, said that drilling at the location, near the Shetland Islands, started in November 2012.
He noted that TAQA, which obtained a 50-percent interest in the exploration area early last year, is still assessing Darwin’s reserve potential.
He added that work on one well had been postponed awaiting further tests.
It is worth noting that Darwin is near to TAQA-operated Cormorant South, North Cormorant and Pelican fields in the Northern North Sea.
