(MENAFN) WHSmith chief executive, Kate Swann, announced that the UK-based retail giant will launch 8 shops at the New Doha International Airport (NDIA), reported Arabian Business.
Swann said that WHSmith’s total space in the airport will cover an area of 8,000 sq ft.
The international retailer has over 1,100 stores in the UK and abroad, including stores in the UAE, Oman, Kuwait, in addition to stores to open in Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
Qatar Airways CEO, Akbar Al Baker, said that WHSmith is a valuable addition to the airport, and will play a vital role in the growth of NDIA as one of the greatest airports in the world.
The NDIA was expected to have opened in December; nevertheless, it is facing delays of up to a year.
The airport will have a total of more than 40,000 sq m of space designed to retail facilities, passenger lounges, and multi-storey short-term and long-term parking.
