(MENAFN) Oman’s Ministry of Transport and Communications announced that it has awarded the expansion contract for Muscat and Salalah airports to US Hill International, reported Arabian Business, citing Arabian Aerospace.
At the current time, upgrade works are being carried out by Cowi-Laursen, however, its deal to provide the works end in December, and the Omani government had banned the joint venture from re-bidding for the contract.
When expansion works, estimated at USD1.8 billion for Muscat airport and USD765 million for Salalah, are completed, the facilities annual capacity to handle passengers would grow to 12 million and 2 million, respectively.
It is worth noting that expansion works on the two airports are expected to complete in 2014.
