(MENAFN) The United States through will give an amount of USD173 million in aid to cover life-saving emergency food assistance in distressed South Sudan, according to the latest reports.
The fund will come from the US Agency for International Development (USAID), and is expected to deliver over 85,000 tons of emergency food assistance and will assist nearly 2.5 million South Sudanese.
Additionally, the United States has stressed on the importance of applying the agreement on the resolution of the devastating conflict in South Sudan and bringing an end to this manmade crisis.
“With this contribution, the American people will have provided nearly USD 1.5 billion since the outbreak of the crisis back in December of 2013,” stated a State Department Spokesperson.
