(MENAFN) Jordan’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Alaa Batayneh, announced that the ministry inked a USD780 million electricity generation agreement, reported Jordan Times.
Batayneh said that the agreement was inked with the Amman-Asia Company for Electric Power to execute an electricity-generation project.
He added that the project, which would have the capacity to generate 580 megawatts of electricity, comes to meet the Kingdom’s increasing demand for power.
Furthermore, the first phase of the project is forecasted to be operational by February 2014
It is worth noting that the project will be located in east Amman.
