(MENAFN) Dubai’s Public Transport Agency’s Executive Director, Essa Al Dossari, stated that by the end of 2012, the number of marine transport users is forecasted to reach 14 million, reported Khaleej Times.
Al Dossari said that the number includes passengers using abras, Dubai Ferry, water taxi and water bus.
He added that the agency plans to boost and improve marine transport services through several projects it intends to launch.
During the January-June period, 6.9 million passengers used marine transport via its various forms.
It is worth noting that the number of passengers using water taxi jumped by 20 percent to 6,832, whereas the number of passengers using the Dubai Ferry surged by 55 percent to 29,000.
