(MENAFN) Vietnam is set to launch a number of tourism projects agreed with Qatar, as part of the Gulf state’s plans to invest up to USD4 billion in the country, Gulf Times reported.
The newspaper cited Nguyen Quy Phuong, director general of travel industry management department at the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as saying that the government is preparing to execute a number of Qatari projects in Vietnam’s tourism sector, including construction of tourist complexes.
In August, officials said Qatar inked USD4 billion worth of agreements with Vietnam in its 67th National Day, to undergo projects in the Far East country, including setting up a labour centre to train workers before they travel to new jobs in the Gulf.
Qatari Diar Real Estate Company is implementing a number of developments in joint ventures with local governments in Vietnam, according Vietnamese ambassador to Qatar Le Hong Phan.
He added that Diar is in talks to construct various multi-purpose facilities, residential and commercial projects and some hotels in Vietnam through joint ventures.
He also indicated that some projects have been already agreed on, and steps are being taken to work on those projects.
